Have you seen this movie!?
What catches your spying-eye radar!?

I watched this movie, ‘Mommie Dearest’, with a close friend within the last week or 2 & was stunned. Growing up, I didn’t realize how good my family life was, but as I’ve aged, I’ve learned how others don’t have the same type of internally-good experience, where appearances truly are deceiving. This docudrama debuted in theaters 09/18/1981 (a day before my 8th birthday) & became a commercial success, despite the mixed-critical reviews & controversies. The bizarre script (based on Chistina Crawford’s 1978 autobiography of the same name which depicted her adopted mom, Joan Crawford, as a criminal & abuser) & highly-charged acting have added a cult following to the film as an unintentional comedy. The motion picture was directed by Frank Perry & adapted for the screen by Perry, Robert Getchell, Tracy Hotchner & Frank Yablans, with executive producers listed as David Koontz (Christina’s husband) & Terry O’Neill (Faye Dunaway’s then soon-to-be husband) & distributed by Paramount Pictures, the only 1 of the Big 8 film studios for which Crawford never appeared in a feature film. The cast includes: Dunaway, Diana Scarwid, Mara Hobel, Steve Forrest, Howard Da Silva, Rutanya Alda, Harry Goz, Michael Edwards, Jocelyn Brando, Priscilla Pointer, Xander Berkeley, Jeremy Scott Reinbolt, Carolyn Coates, Margaret Fairchild, Belita Moreno & Alice Nunn.
