2 songs from the 2nd hour (8p-9p) of my 04/27/1996 college radio “The Saturday Evening Mostly Country Music Show”:
#1 “Love Can Build A Bridge”
The Judds
[For more info about this duo’s hits & history, check out song #2 in the 09/19/2015 “CD Showcase Memories” entry via THIS LINK HERE, song #2 in the 03/02/2016 “Wednesday Wrap” entry via THIS LINK HERE, song #3 in the 11/05/2016 “CarTunes Saturday” entry via THIS LINK HERE & the 04/04/2017 “Turntable Tuesday” entry via THIS LINK HERE.]
Written by Naomi Judd, Paul Overstreet & John Barlow Jarvis, this song hit the airwaves 12/08/1990, spent 20 weeks on the charts & peaked at #5. It was the 2nd single & title track of the duo’s album of the same name. The tune garnered the Country Song & Country Vocal Duo Grammys. While the mother-daughter from Ashland KY released 2 more songs that year (“100 & 2” & “John Deere Tractor”) this is considered their “farewell” song, having moved to Nashville TN in 1979 & debuted on the country charts mid-December 1983.

#2 “Take This Heart”
Richard Marx
[For more info about this artist, check out song #2 in the 10/24/2015 “CarTunes Saturday” entry via THIS LINK HERE.]
This song was released June 1992 as the 3rd single from his 1991 album ‘Rush Street’. The tune peaked at #20 on the Billboard Hot 100 & reached #4 on the Adult Contemporary charts. Outside the US, the single hit #4 in Canada & #13 on the UK Singes chart. The video (linked below) features Marx playing for the Chicago Cubs (he is a noted Cubs fan) in the 7th game of the World Series against the Oakland Athletics. Marx’s prior release, 1992’s “Hazard”, had notched at #9 on the BH 100 & #1 on the AC charts. Couple other notable tunes of his: 1988’s “Hold Onto The Nights” & 1989’s “Right Here Waiting”.
