What catches your spying-eye radar!?

Yet another movie I’ve seen recently with a close friend & enjoyed. ‘Wrong Turn’ is a horror film, directed by Rob Schmidt & written by Alan B McElroy. Released to theaters 05/30/2003 (nearly 5 months after my 01/06/2003 open heart surgery), the movie scored $28.7 at the box office (against a budget of $12.6 million) & received favorable reviews, though only ~41% of surveyed critics gave a positive review. The consensus review seems to be “an unremarkable slasher flick” failing “to distinguish itself from others”. Other related movies include 2 sequels (2007’s ‘Wrong Turn 2: Dead End’ & 2009’s ‘Wrong Turn 3: Left For Dead’), 2 prequels (2011’s ‘Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings’ & 2012’s ‘Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines’) & 1 stand-alone (2014’s ‘Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort’). Last October (2018), a remake of the original was announced as being in development, written by McElroy & to be directed by Mike P Nelson.

The hook for me was Eliza Dushku, who portrays Jessie Burlingame in the movie. I had thoroughly enjoyed watching Dushku in FOX’s ‘Tru Calling’ (10/30/2003 – 03/11/2005). Other ‘WT’ cast members include Desmond Harrington, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Jeremy Sisto, Kevin Zegers, Lindy Booth, Julian Richings, Garry Robbins, Ted Clark, Yvonne Gaudry, Joel Harris, David Huband, Wayne Robson & James Downing.
