“Sometimes, it’s easy to play the ‘what if’ game & consider what might’ve been when the current road chosen gets lonely.”
I’ve been thinking about that quote since I overheard it this past weekend. Along with a few favorite songs I heard, some personal realizations (good & bad) settled in because of the quote, leading me to a calm, yet sad, state. Letting go or welcoming new possibilities is never easy, & sometimes, we can only see the closed door behind us instead of the open window ahead of us. Yet, since every “life birth” (as I noted in the recent “Vying Time” entry seen via THIS LINK HERE) helps us find another part of ourselves, we ought to be more welcoming of the window of opportunity.
From my experience, tho, the “sometimes” in that quote I heard isn’t really a factor, & the shut door in the rearview mirror is larger than it appears. I’ve played “what if” a lot lately for many aspects of my life. My Dad’s declining health, a personal struggle & the possibility of a 5th open heart surgery [cardiologist-ordered exercise stress echo was a week ago today; now, a to-be-scheduled appointment with her to discuss the results] have enhanced the draw to play. But, the game is a bonafide time-waster because even playing it leads to other, unpredictable scenarios such that what you envision may’ve happened might not have even been a possibility anyway. The largest shut door for me is the many “wrong choices” I see; however, while it is difficult to trust my decisions, I’m a better person for taking some of those wrong turns, tho my financial life might disagree.
I originally planned to elaborate, but I’d rather discuss some recently-developing new possibilities. So, to end this on a far better, more positive note, a pair of returns to announce. I am very excited about both, & I hope you “tune in”.
My target for the re-start of OC,SH’s full-regular schedule is a week or 2 (early April 2019), starting with the remaining posts from the “cut short” week, August 2017. From there, I may have a week of “favorites” then use some archives that originally appeared on the Facebook page before the website launched in 2015. With the re-launch still developing in my mind & other factors [including my search for a new job or more CD Consulting Services (see THIS LINK HERE) clients, etc.], plans are subject to change.
Ever since my last radio broadcast (Christmas Eve 2011), I have been wanting to get back on the air because “even if the whole world has forgotten, a song remembers when” (along with my quote in the collage below). A few discussions with my home-town radio station failed to produce. In late November 2016, I contacted another local radio station about the possibility of returning to the airwaves; unfortunately, at that time, they were not looking to add to their schedule. On a literal whim, I sent another eMail to that same station a month ago, late February 2019, & to my surprise, they are now looking to add to their schedule. I recently met with the station’s current Executive Director & the return was marked. Unlike my prior shows (on my college’s radio station WBKE & then Elgin IL’s WRMN), this iteration will NOT be live (initially), so I will not be able to interact with listeners real time. However, if the show sparks enough interest, live broadcast is possible. For now, the shows will be 27 minutes in length (about 7 songs), will air in a specific timeslot on the radio station (to be decided) & be available via podcast-online-on demand so you can listen anytime, anywhere & any way you wish. The new radio home of my show? Huntley Public Radio (WHRU-LP), locally heard broadcasting from Huntley IL on 101.5 FM & nation-world wide from their website (seen via THIS LINK HERE) by clicking on THIS LINK HERE! You can also check out their Facebook page via THIS LINK HERE. My appointment to record the 1st few shows is next week; scheduling will be shared when available.
Very cool news indeed! Congratulations on landing the radio spot!! 🙂 Praying all goes well at your doctor’s consult. <3
