CHD AWARENESS WEEK
Did you know: 1 in 100 babies is born with a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD)? If not, well, now you do! The chest scars in the photo below are mine, ~1 month after my 4th & (so far) last Open Heart Surgery, 11/11/2011. My experiences with CHDs are the often-overlooked & unknown “Strong Hearts” part of this website; “Old Cars” (& just about anything vintage on wheels) are featured predominately, especially in the regular schedule themes.

While scars are tattoos with better stories, please keep in mind we all have scars: external & internal. Scars on the outside are proof of how strong people are & illustrate life tales. Scars on the inside, however, are not as visible & can be more damaging because those are the scars about which not many, if any, people know. Inner scars can erode one’s confidence, be a silent “I can’t do that, again” nudge, be painful snapshots of regrets &-or wrong choices, & many more reminders of things we’d rather forget or the silent voice telling us we aren’t good enough, keeping us from seeing ourselves as others see us.

PHOTO GALLERIES
This past Saturday evening I browsed some of my “vintage” photos of gatherings I spearheaded ~10 years ago, including several dual Valve Replacement & Adult Congenital Heart Association events. I also found images of automotive gatherings I created & hosted in about the same time frame, along with pictures of various Elgin IL-area cruise nights ~2011. The PHOTO GALLERIES section of this website (seen via THIS LINK HERE) was originally intended for my road trips; however, the more I reminisced & saw photos the other night, the more I realized, descriptions or not, I need-want to add pics of those Chicago-area events as well. So, you might say I have a renewed enthusiasm to get those documented here online … hopefully soon, just need to carve out the time.

PASSIONATE
I was texting with a close friend Saturday PM about Chicago area radio stations, which somehow led me to mention how widespread my topical interests are! I can’t narrow the list down to even a Top 3, which I suppose helps to explain why I can’t specify a career path. These topics leap to mind when I think of my wheelhouse: radio (of course), music, vehicles (mostly vintage), writing, roads, driving, road trips, baseball, TV & many more. What gets your juices flowing?

OC,SH NEWS
I’ve been actively seeking an atypical escape. I’d like a place where I can “get away” & focus for ~1 week, but due to many factors, that isn’t happening any time soon. My goal was (& still is) to find solitude so I can work on completing objectives on my “want to do” list (including for OC,SH & CD Consulting Services) while continuing, on my schedule, the job search, working for my 1st client [seen via THIS LINK HERE; please remember the FreeFundraiser Spaghetti Dinner event seen via THIS LINK HERE & RSVP] & getting some much-needed sleep so I have energy to do things. Irony rocks. Even so, with my creativity bubbling up & starting to flood my mind with a rush of ideas, I have already started preparations for a return to the OC,SH full schedule. Admittedly, I’m not as close as I’d like to be, but at least the wheels are turning now. As I noted in a few prior posts, I have some articles also in mind (1 about automotive corporate fronts) & other writings, so “stay tuned”. I sure appreciate you being part of OC,SH.
