In the last OC,SH entry (“Historic Landmarks”, see THIS LINK HERE), I mentioned my “creative juices” have been sparked by working for my 1st client for CD Consulting Services [website page, now with contact form, via THIS LINK HERE]. The collage at the end of this writing was inspired in part by a pair of posts I did for that client regarding this week’s Chicago-area weather: an “alert” seen via THIS LINK HERE & a “frightful weather” post seen via THIS LINK HERE. [I’ve also shared another recent post to the CD Consulting Services Facebook group; that can be seen via THIS LINK HERE.] You see, this week, Chicagoland is experiencing a classic 1-2 punch of winter weather: snowfall followed by extreme temperatures!

The snowfall Sunday into Monday was not as big as the February 2011 blizzard (from which the 4 pics in the OC,SH original collage are), but the below-zero temperatures coming (particularly Wednesday) are potentially record-setting. As someone who is no longer fond of winter, I can deal with the snow [which can be awesome, inspiring & beautiful], just not the bitter temps, ice & salt that follow it everywhere … so I am particularly dreading the next few days. If only we could hit a “fast forward” or “skip” button to move right to Friday & the weekend when temperatures around here are forecast to be back in the 20s, 30s & then even 40s … a heat wave!

So, 3 winter-related questions:
What are your favorite & least favorite parts of winter?
What is the coldest temperature you’ve ever experienced?
What is the most snow you’ve ever seen?

Speaking of questions: did you see the latest poll in the OC,SH Express Facebook group? If not, check it out via THIS LINK HERE! Hint: the poll (which includes photos) features OC,SH posts from the last few months.

& yes, I am in the midst of contemplating & preparing (including some tweaks) for a return to the OC,SH full-speed-ahead schedule, thanks in part to my jump-started creativity! I realize it has been a long time coming, so I hope it is worth the wait. Much is still happening (& not happening) in my personal life, so I appreciate your patience. I’m also working on at least 1 article (about corporate automotive fronts) & some other writings, sparked by becoming buds with a close friend’s beloved cat (see below OC,SH original pic with caption) & life lessons & deep depressing truths that sitcoms (which are supposed to provide a comedic escape) sometimes slap on us. Are you intrigued?

LaFae & me: I’m NOT a cat person, but this 1 seems to love me, & I love him
Me with long(er) hair (recently trimmed), standing in front of my dealer poster of a 1979 Blazer, much like the 1st vehicle I ever drove

All 4 OC,SH original photos in the below collage were taken after the February 2011 blizzard that blanketed Chicagoland. The 2 photos on the left are in the backyard of my parents’ place; the bottom left image is especially intriguing, given how the drifted snow “cut” through the fence. The 2 photos on the right are of my then-daily driver 1979 Caprice Classic sedan, appropriately nicknamed “Winter Warrior”, partly for the snowfall of the Winter of ’78-’79.
