Yo ho ho ho. Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!
Course, “Yo ho ho ho” is either the Green Giant or Santa Claus, depending on the time of year, & maybe even Old Man Winter masquerading as both characters, depending on one’s mood…. Whatever the context or your mood, I hope you are well. This is a stressful & difficult season for many people, including myself, so take time to slow down & see family & friends while you can. I never really got into the spirit of the season this year, but witnessing the excitement of Nephew & The 2 Nieces has been a blessing.
The OC,SH original photo (some of my former vehicles decorated) with this entry is the closest I got to decorating this year. I posted the collage as the newest Cover Photo on the Old Cars, Strong Hearts Facebook page & asked others to post pics of their decorated vehicles. Counterclockwise from top left:
1976 MC Landau (“Blackie” then “Elvira”)
1979 MC Landau (“Sweet Pea”)
1988 MC LS (“Silver Bullet”)
1979 Caprice Classic sedan (“Winter Warrior”).
Sometime in 2019, I will finally get my current 2 cars (see pics of both via THIS LINK HERE) together:
2003 Mercury Grand Marquis LS (best-ever car, despite recent repairs)
1981 Monte Carlo SC (connects me to all vehicles that’ve touched my life, including the 1 that started my love affair, my parents’ “my” 1976 MC).
[I’d enjoy adding a 1975 Chrysler Cordoba to my family….]
In an episode of the last season of the original run of “Murphy Brown” [featured in the 06/23/2015 “Tuesday TV” via THIS LINK HERE], I heard guest star Tracy Nelson (who’d had a main role in “Father Dowling Mysteries”, featured in the 09/01/2015 “Tuesday TV” via THIS LINK HERE) utter these words to Murphy: “The meaning of life is living.” Let that sink in a bit. A big mystery of life is what this all means, & it seems a plethora of people have attempted to answer the question of the meaning of life. While I wonder about the reason(s) for some experiences, I have to believe all happens according to plan, even if I cannot see or understand why.
I’ve often uttered the phrase “I’ve survived 4 open heart surgeries … for THIS!?”, usually when I’m at a low point, nothing seems right with the world & I’ve no idea how to get back to good. Yet, the rough times & situations help bring out the good in others & us, while showing us more clearly the good people in our lives, family or friends. Lately, I’ve found myself wanting to drive away or curl into a ball or crawl into a hole to just disappear. But, the “down” times of little or no motivation & frustration by many things (like wasting time) could be our soul rejuvenating itself.
A good friend’s word for 2018 is synchronicity. My how true that is [Dan even started a FB page, Fans of Unknown Realities, the same month & year I created the OC,SH FB page]. I’m not a political person, but developing ideas for my 1st client has sparked my creative juices to where I’m beginning to see more motivation to re-start the OC,SH full schedule, including some articles still simmering in my mind.
The point? Give yourself a gift: LIVE LIFE! Visit family & friends for quality time & have long discussions; you might be surprised what you learn or have in common. Take a drive (not that I’m biased). Be supportive in your own way of someone with heart issues or other health concerns. Explore places in your home town & where you live now; hidden gems are everywhere. Learn something new; do something crazy or out of your comfort zone. Tell people in your life how you feel about them. Start a venture; I began Old Cars, Strong Hearts 6 years ago this month & just recently launched CD Consulting Services (with my 1st client, Dave Kaptain For Mayor, thanks to my Aunt Chris & Uncle Carl).
Who knows? Maybe the calendar turning to 2019 in ~1 week will usher in (more) good things for all of us! Peace.
