ALERT NOTE: Wondering why you haven’t seen regular OC,SH posts? Take a look at the explanation in the 08/25/2017 “Seeing The Moon” entry via THIS LINK HERE!

Thank goodness for old websites, created by friends no longer with us, kept alive as a tribute by others.  Soon after I completed my former automotive family ~2002, late OC,SHer RAY B created a website for me as a spinoff of his website.  When Ray died, John C decided to take over the reigns of Ray’s site to keep it running as a tribute to him.  Because of that generosity, I was able to bring you the collage with this post.

The man in the collage is John Trimmer, a family friend who, with his wife & children, lived in my hometown for many years.  During the season my Dad’s city softball team went undefeated, John was the team’s 3rd base coach.  He would always hand the ball over to whoever was pitching.  Some of us thought that may’ve helped Dad’s team not lose a game.  John had many cars in his lifetime, among them a goldish 1978 Mercury Marquis sedan, which I detailed for him the summer of 1988.  I took the 2 OC,SH original photos in the below collage nearly 10 years ago, 11/30/2007, during my November 2007 road trip to the southeast.  The car he is driving is a cinnamon brown 1979 Cadillac, which he’d bought from the original owner who lived in PA; the 2 cars below are a pair of Packards he & his wife owned at the time.  I found out late afternoon Tuesday, 08/29/2017, that John died 08/19/2017.  When he & Dot moved to TN, our families stayed in touch, & whenever I was in Nashville or Jackson TN, I would always stop to see John & Dot in Big Sandy, half way between the other 2 cities & ~1 hour north of I-40.  I miss those days & road trips.  [BTW, you can see a gorgeous sunset photo I took looking out over the lake behind their TN home in the 10/27/2015 “Tuesday Trip” entry via THIS LINK HERE.]

I don’t know about y’all, but it has been a weird few days.  In some ways, I feel lost not crafting daily entries-posts for this website.  Yet, I have found time for new experiences & reviewing old files, & hopefully will also have some time for more ‘midnight drives’, working on my custom Lego house & re-arranging my scale model displays.

Regarding the files, when I received a new-to-me file cabinet from OC,SHer PHIL K ~2-3 years ago, I went through my papers-documents just enough to arrange all of them in my 5 file cabinets (2 tall, 3 short).  With my laptop baptized, I decided to take this time to at least start the process of reviewing those files with a bit more of a fine tooth comb.  I started with my automotive-related files, which (like John T’s death) brought back a lot of memories, along with reminders of past hopes & dreams, particularly for my former automotive family.  My oh my, the passage of time changes us & shapes our lives in different ways even when we don’t fully realize it.

Regarding the data recovery on my laptop’s hard drive, the CA company is in the process of attempting to recover it with the final price tag potentially hovering ~$2,000.  If recoverable, I may be able to bring OC,SH back, but only on a limited full-time basis because I will not be able to afford a new computer.  Unless someone knows a company who might sponsor the website!?

So, what’s the point of this unique entry?  Back up your data daily, take time to visit people, take time to remember & take time to keep in touch (interact) with those who matter to you so they KNOW you matter to them!  Speaking of, I have not had a good block of “computer time” to return the favor as I always do with those of you who’ve interacted on OC,SH recently, but I promise I WILL, tho I don’t know when.  The time I’d earmarked for that purpose Tuesday night was quickly taken up by a new experience & creating this post, which I thought was important to write.  I’m sorry to be missing YOUR posts & statuses, but I sure appreciate you continuing to be an OC,SHer!
