FEATURE SONG # 1:
“It’s A Short Walk From Heaven To Hell”
This song is 1 of a few behind why I bought this album soon after it was available. For whatever reason, many of his songs simply resonated with me for 1 reason or another. Sometimes, as with “At The Sound Of The Tone”, it was personal; other times, it was because I changed the lyrics to fit my situation. With this song, it was a change of lyrics that caused it to be replayed many times on my record player. Debuting 04/20/1985, 7 months after “my” car departed, replaced by a 1982 Chevette, this song spent 20 weeks on the charts & peaked at #10. At the time, it was his 3rd straight Top 10 tune, with the prior 2 reaching the top of the charts: 1984’s “I’ve Been Around Enough To Know” & 1985’s “Country Girls” (another tune personal to me, with a slight alteration of lyrics).

FEATURE SONG # 2:
“Love, You Ain’t Seen The Last Of Me”
This upbeat, defiant tune needed no lyric changing to impact me. This is 1 of those
I’m sure we all have them
that struck me as a “just-you-wait-&-see-I’ll-prove-them-all-wrong” song
& has only increased in relevance to me over the years. The single hit the airwaves 04/04/1987, spent 20 weeks on the charts & peaked at #6, becoming his last Top 10 tune & the last in a string of 9 straight Top 10s, including 4 chart toppers.
