{After taking a few weeks off for spring-related mini road trips & activities, I delved back into writing, perhaps more focused than ever….}
En route to the TV station, Amy decides to see Jake. As she reaches his home, she spots the expensive Lincoln sitting in the driveway & immediately begins to ponder who could be visiting Jake this “early” in the morning. Almost fuming at the idea it is another woman, she steers her car into the driveway only to be further shocked when she notices the Lincoln’s out-of-state license plates. Cautiously, Amy exits her car, walks to Jake’s front door & rings the bell. To Amy’s astonishment, a strange man answers the door. Fearing the worst, Amy begins to shake (holding back tears) & asks what has happened to Jake. Pierce simply stares at her, not having a clue what this woman (Amy) wants with Jake. Amy timidly repeats the question, & Pierce tells Amy that Jake no longer lives there. Amy begins sobbing uncontrollably. Realizing the obvious misunderstanding, Pierce begs forgiveness & quickly tells Amy that Jake is not dead, he just simply left Manchester for a spell. Amy quickly regains her composure, & politely asks Pierce who he is. By this time, though, Suzanne has come to the door & answers for Pierce, calmly introducing him & herself, taking care to note her (Suzanne’s) relationship to Jake so it is clear. Suzanne then asks if she is speaking to Amy. Once again shocked, Amy confirms Suzanne’s question. Pierce then invites Amy inside; Amy relaxes &, somewhat reluctantly, accepts the invite. Pierce & Suzanne usher Amy into the living room to chat. Suzanne explains to Amy that Jake is handling some out-of-town matters & asked them to watch the place for him while he is away. Amy finds this particularly strange, but says nothing.
Meanwhile, en route to the Boulevard Park & Family Center, Erika decides to detour to Jake’s house to see if she can talk to him to finally tell him the truth, even though she tries to talk herself out of doing so, considering Mack wants so badly to bring Laura back to prove he is Jake’s grandfather. As Erika nears Jake’s house, she becomes very upset to see Amy’s car parked in the driveway, automatically assuming Amy has spent the night. Erika speeds into the driveway, braking just in time to avoid smashing her car into Amy’s. Erika, never noticing the Lincoln also in the driveway, exits her car & slams the door. By the time she reaches Jake’s front door, she is poised & ready to “have words” with Amy & Jake. She knocks loudly on the door, demanding to be let in. Amy instantly recognizes Erika’s voice, but acts as if she has no idea who is at the front door. Despite Pierce’s attempts to get to the door 1st, Suzanne swoops in & quickly opens the front door. Now blinded with rage, Erika rushes inside the house &, noticing a woman is opening the door, assumes it is Amy, & reaches out to get a choke hold on her. As soon as Erika grabs the neck, she is horrified to realize it isn’t Amy’s. At the same time, Pierce grabs Erika, pulls Erika away from Suzanne & demands to know what Erika thinks she is doing. Amy walks over to the front door area & is quietly amused. Erika, ignoring Pierce’s query, demands to know who he & Suzanne are & where Jake & Amy are … at which moment she spots Amy &, due to Amy’s now snickering, Erika becomes more irritated & agitated.
Pierce steps back & tells everyone to calm down, ushering them into the living room & motioning for them all to sit. Pierce introduces himself & Suzanne to Erika, noting Suzanne’s relationship to Jake & why they are there. Pierce then repeats his prior questions to Erika, who answers, introducing herself & why Jake is important to her. Suzanne becomes upset, telling Erika she (Erika) cannot be the mother of Jake’s child. Erika becomes quiet rather quickly, enabling Amy opportunity to ask Erika why she was so mad at Suzanne when she entered the house. Erika snaps back at Amy, saying she thought the woman was Amy & she (Erika) was livid at the thought of Amy having the audacity to attempt to “further” her relationship with Jake. Amy mouths off, telling Erika she (Erika) has no room to talk because of her affair with Richie. Amy, not allowing anyone a word in edgewise (particularly Erika, but including Pierce & Suzanne who’ve just been shocked at the news-revelations), continues, noting the double standard of Erika disapproving of her (Amy’s) affair with Jake, while Erika continues to have a relationship with Richie despite his involvement with Julia & the fact that she (Erika) is carrying Jake’s baby. Erika voices her shock, noting Amy never confronted her like this before, adding that at least Richie is not married (a dig-reference to Jake’s marriage to Laura). Not able to rebut Erika’s last comment, Amy changes gears-direction, noting she is positive Julia had nothing to do with Laura’s disappearance & Erika should stop trying to pin it on Julia. Amy quickly continues, suggesting Erika is trying to pin Laura’s disappearance on Julia because she (Erika) is guilty.
At this point, Pierce & Suzanne have learned far more than they could’ve imagined from their 2 “uninvited” visitors. Suzanne secretly can’t wait for Erika & Amy to leave so she can talk to Jake. Suzanne, somewhat discretely, manages to get a text sent to Jake to give him a heads up. Meanwhile, Pierce tries to intervene between Erika & Amy, telling the 2 guests it is time for everyone to cool down. Instead, Erika, now almost to tears because she realizes the ironic nature of this encounter since she originally came to confess to Jake, jumps up & heads out the front door without further words. Suzanne instinctively follows Erika & tells her that if she (Erika) had anything to do with Laura’s disappearance, she (Erika) will have to answer to her (Suzanne). Erika looks at Suzanne, then leaves without saying anything in reply. Suzanne re-enters the living room, & Amy immediately says she must excuse herself because she has to leave to go to work at the TV station. Amy, Suzanne & Pierce exchange goodbyes, & Amy leaves. As soon as Amy is out the door, Suzanne observes to Pierce that their “fact-finding” mission might end up being easier than they thought. But, Pierce reminds her they’ve not yet found out anything about the fatal collision investigation….
