Day-long 4th of July Spectacular

CD SHOWCASE MEMORIES

Spinning the records

& turning the tables on automotive photos!

This week’s feature is Restless Heart’s 3rd album & 2 tunes: “Jenny Come Back” (Side A) & “This Time” (Side B). This week’s featured interior: blue inside of a white 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis I considered purchasing just over a year ago; since this is the 4th of July, all this car needs to feature the US flag colors is a red pinstripe, right!?

ALBUM:
‘Big Dreams In A Small Town’, 07/15/1988
ARTIST:
Restless Heart

This record (which I own on vinyl) features 9 tunes. Side A has 1989’s “Say What’s In Your Heart” (#4), 1989’s “Big Dreams In A Small Town” (#3), 1988’s “A Tender Lie” (#1) & 2 unreleased songs: “Jenny Come Back” & “No Way Out”. Side B features the unreleased “Eldorado”, 1988’s “Bluest Eyes In Texas” (#1) & 2 more unreleased songs: “This Time” & “Calm Before The Storm”.

FEATURE SONG # 1:
“Jenny Come Back”
I’ve mentioned many times 1 of my favorite things of my radio shows is to play un-charted songs. Of the 2 unreleased tunes on Side A, this is my absolute favorite, with “Big Dreams In A Small Town” my favorite of the 3 Side A singles. The song’s upbeat pace compliments the request for a friend & lover to return with the promise of treating her better because he realized how good she is for him. I’d be willing to bet you’ll find yourself tapping your toes to this tune
. Wonder how well this would’ve charted had it been released!?

FEATURE SONG # 2:
“This Time”
With the exceptions of the released “Bluest Eyes In Texas” (the 5th in a string of 6 straight chart toppers) & the un-released “Calm Before The Storm”, both songs previously featured here, neither of the other 2 Side B unreleased tunes really grabbed my attention or interest. This song, however, is another fast-paced tune with the message of realizing a love.
