This record (which I own on vinyl) features 10 tunes. Side A has 1987-8’s “Wheels” (#1, title track), 1986’s “That Rock Won’t Roll” (#1, the start of a run of 6 straight chart toppers), 1986-7’s “I’ll Still Be Loving You” (#1), 1987’s “Why Does It Have To Be” (#1) & the un-released “Hummingbird”. Side B features 5 unreleased songs: “The Boy’s On A Roll”, “Hard Time”, “Victim Of The Game”, “New York” & “We Owned This Town”.

FEATURE SONG # 1:
“Why Does It Have To Be”
While “Wheels” is at the top of my list, for what should be obvious reasons, this tune is my favorite on this album. Debuting 05/30/1987, this song spent 25 weeks on the country charts & claimed #1. At the time, it was their 3rd straight chart topper, behind 1986’s “That Rock Won’t Roll” & 1986-7’s “I’ll Still Be Loving You”. Their string of chart toppers reached 6, continuing with the aforementioned “Wheels” from this album, then the next 2 releases, the 1st 2 from their 3rd album, which will be featured next week! I don’t have any particular memories associated with this single, but hearing it sure takes me back
.

FEATURE SONG # 2:
“Hard Time”
While none of the songs on Side B were released, each of them quickly become favorites of mine & got played at 1 point or another on my college radio shows. This particular song has fit my life in different ways in different times. The wish in the middle of the song, about changing the past, seems to be a universal contemplation. I’d be willing to bet we all have identified with some part of the song at some time in our lives.

FEATURE SONG # 3:
“We Owned This Town”
This upbeat tune caught my attention right away. I’m pretty darn sure all of us, at some point, have claimed to “own” our home town, which is exactly what this song illustrates. Written-sung from a reflective perspective, it shows how everything seems possible when we are young. Interestingly, when I 1st heard Jason Aldean’s “Tattoos On This Town” several years ago, I had a deja vu-ish type feeling
 because of this RH song.
