âAlice Doesnât Live Here Anymoreâ is a comedy drama film (written by Robert Getchell & directed by Martin Scorsese) that debuted in theaters 12/09/1974, ~3 months after âLittle House On The Prairieâ (featured in this weekâs âTV Tuesdayâ seen via THIS LINK HERE) debuted. Filming was done on location in Amado, Tucson & Phoenix AZ; an actual Melâs Diner is in Phoenix. The motion picture opened to critical acclaim & was a box office hit. The soundtrack even includes Dolly Partonâs âI Will Always Love Youâ, which had just been released earlier that year. I really want to see this movie because it sparked 1 of my favorite sitcoms: CBSâ âAliceâ, which aired 08/1976 to 07/1985. The only movie cast member to reprise the same role on the series was Vic Taback as âMelâ; Diane Ladd joined the show later, but in a different role. The cast includes, along with Tayback & Ladd (âFloâ), Ellen Bursyn (âAliceâ), Alfred Lutter (âTommyâ; he reprised the roll for the TV pilot only), Kris Kristofferson, Billy Bush, Valerie Curtin (âVeraâ), Lelia Goldoni, Lane Bradbury, Jodie Foster, Harvey Keitel, Murray Moston & Harry Northup. Scorsese & Laddâs daughter, Laura Dern, cameo as a customer & girl eating an ice cream cone in the diner respectively.
