This record (which I own on vinyl) features 9 tunes. Side A has 1984’s “I Got Mexico” (#1, his 1st chart topper), 1985’s “Operator, Operator” (#9), 1988’s “I’m Gonna Get You” (#1), 1987’s “Shine Shine Shine” (#1) & 1988-9’s “’Til You Cry” (#4). Side Be features 1988’s “Joe Knows How To Live” (#1), 1986-7’s “Right Hand Man” (#3), 1986’s “Sometimes A Lady” (#3) & 1985-6’s “You Should Have Been Gone By Now” (#3, an ultimate favorite of mine for many reasons).

FEATURE SONG # 1:
“’Til You Cry”
I bought this album for many of the songs; however, this was not 1 of them. Later in life, though, the meaning became relevant to me, & the tune quickly rose to “favorite” status. This single debuted 12/03/1988, spent 21 weeks on the country charts & peaked at #4 in early 1989. At the time, it stopped a string of 3 straight chart toppers: 1987’s “Shine Shine Shine”, 1988’s “I’m Gonna Get You” & 1988’s “Joe Knows How To Live”. Had this tune topped the charts, it potentially would’ve given him a string of 6 straight #1s, as his next 2 release claimed #1: 1989’s “In A Letter To You” & 1989’s “Bayou Boys”.

FEATURE SONG #2:
“Sometimes A Lady”
I almost chose 2 songs from Side B to feature; that’s how “loaded” that side is. However, I narrowed it to this upbeat tune. Hitting the airwaves 05/31/1986, this song spent 22 weeks on the country charts & peaked at #3. At the time, it was his 7th straight Top 10, a string that stretched to 17, ending with 1990’s “Island” (#10) after starting with his 2nd Top 10 & 1st chart topper, 1984’s “I Got Mexico”. It was during this time frame that I couldn’t imagine a world without new Eddy Raven songs; I might not have identified with every hit he released, but each tune sparks different memories for me.
