ALBUM:

This record (which I own on vinyl) features 10 tunes. Side A has 1989’s title track (#5), 1988’s “Money” (#13), unreleased “Round The Clock Lovin’” (written by Oslin & Rory Michael Bourke, released as a single by Gail Davies in 1982 & peaked at #9), unreleased “Where Is A Woman To Go” & 1988-9’s “Hold Me” (#1; Song Of The Year & Female Vocal Grammys). Side B features 1989’s “Hey Bobby” (#2), unreleased “She Don’t Talk Like Us No More”, unreleased “Jealous”, 1989’s “Didn’t Expect It To Go Down This Way” (#23; a concept to which I can certainly relate) & unreleased “Truly Blue”.

FEATURE SONG # 1:
“This Woman”
The album’s title track was technically the 4th single released. Debuting 06/10/1989, this song spent 18 weeks on the country charts & peaked at #5. Back in the day (& to some extent still today), I was known to change the wording of songs to better fit my mood or situations. This is 1 of those songs. The upbeat & catchy nature of the tune lent itself well to becoming a favorite of mine.

FEATURE SONG #2
“Hey Bobby”
Released directly ahead of the title track (& right after the smash hit “Hold Me”), this song hit the airwaves 02/11/1989, spent 19 weeks on the country charts & peaked at #2. While I can’t identify with the song 100%, the idea of a drive-in-the-“1st-car” euphoria surely grabbed my attention. I remember daydreaming about how it might be when I finally bought my 1st car
.

FEATURE SONG #3
“Truly Blue”
When I bought vinyl records some 30 years ago, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to each entire record & choosing songs I THINK should’ve been released as singles. This is 1 of those tunes, due to the upbeat nature & slightly ironic plot of the lyrics, which also made it 1 of my favorite songs on this album. Take a listen:
