Do you remember this series!?
What catches your spying-eye radar!?

“Sweating Bullets” was a favorite of mine that I’m guessing not too many (if any) people remember! Originally known as “Tropical Heat” in Canada, this series made its way to the States 04/08/1991 to 10/18/1993 as part of CBS’ ‘Crimetime After Primetime’ experiment; it aired Monday nights. The show, produced in cooperation with Mexico & Israel, ran for 3 seasons: Season 1 was filmed in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (due to the tax breaks under NAFTA); Season 2 was filmed in Eilat Israel; & Season 3 was filmed in Pretoria, South Africa (with some sequences shot in Mauritius). Interestingly, the series became so popular in Serbia, it gained cult status, which no one with the series knew until Canadian actor Rob Stewart (who played “Nick Slaughter”) stumbled across a Facebook group. In the series, Slaughter is an ex-DEA agent who has relocated to (fictional resort town) Key Mariah FL & teams up with a local tourist agent to solve cases. A sequel film, ‘Criss Cross’, was released in 2001. The show cast includes, along with Stewart: Carolyn Dunn (“Sylvia Girard”, the local tourist agent), John David Bland (“Ian Stewart”), Ian Tracey (“Spider Garvin”), Eugene Clark (“Ollie Porter”), Pedro Armendariz jr (“Lt Carillo”), Ari Sorko-Ram (“Sgt Gregory”), Allen Nashman (“Rollie”) & Graeme Campbell (“Rupert”).

As for CBS’ experiment, it was a group of crime-investigation shows that aired in late night, after the late local news. It was supposed to debut January 1991 but was delayed due to the Gulf War. Prior to 1989, CBS had aired a similar block entitled ‘CBS Late Night’. That was canceled to make room for the ill-fated ‘The Pat Sajak Show’, which then was replaced by a series of news, talk shows, reruns & adult game shows. Other series in the ‘Crimetime After Primetime’ block, which was canceled to make way for David Letterman, include: Tuesday’s “Forever Knight” & “The Exile”, Wednesday’s “Scene Of The Crime” & “Dangerous Curves”, Thursday’s “Fly By Night” & “Silk Stalkings”, Friday’s “Dark Justice”.
