NOTE: After taking time during lunch break at work Monday (01/18/1999) & Tuesday (01/19/1999) to review notes to be sure no story lines prior to the Michael-Matthew fatal collision were dropped, I returned to full writing, Wednesday, 01/20/1999.
Carl & Christine embrace as Carl asks her what she is doing there. She tells him she had stopped to see Amy at the TV station & Amy suggested she drop by to see him. Carl says he is glad she came. The phone rings & Carl answers it. He is a bit shocked to hear Jackie’s voice on the other end. Carl quickly excuses himself from Christine & moves into another room to take the call a bit more privately. He asks Jackie how she is doing. Jackie says OK & returns the question to him. Carl tells Jackie he is doing as good as could be expected, what with Matthew’s death & the boys still missing. Carl asks Jackie how her pregnancy is going. She tells him OK. They talk a little more, with Carl asking if she has told anyone about her pregnancy. Jackie replies that she has not, & Carl is relieved. Jackie is equally relieved when Carl says he has not told anyone, either. At Jackie’s suggestion, both agree to not tell anyone about the baby for now. Jackie then tells Carl she wants to see him soon. Carl tells her he will stop by the next time he is at the hospital. They say goodbye, & Carl returns to the other room to be with Christine. Christine asks who called; Carl tells her it was a business call. In disbelief, Christine remarks how thoughtless the person is to call at such at time.
A 2006 Lincoln LS (with license plate “BoDeans”) pulls up next to Jake’s new pickup truck. Jake gets out while the car comes to a stop. A mid-20s man & woman emerge from the Lincoln, & Jake says hello to them, calling them by name … Pierce & Suzanne.
Having left Mack’s room, Cathy stops at the nurses station to ask about Olivia. The nurse tells Cathy that Olivia is still in a coma; her “episode” was a false alarm. Cathy thanks the nurse & heads to Jackie’s room.
Steve calls the prison & inquires as to who posted the University bomber’s bail. The prison officials, of course, are unable to release that info, despite Steve’s vehement protests. Steve slams down the receiver & exclaims “what else could go wrong!?” Just then, 2 officers come to Steve … 1 of which tells him the investigation has revealed foul play is possible in the Matthew-Michael fatal collision. The other officer tells Steve the reports regarding the fingerprints found at the restaurant have been stolen. Steve becomes more agitated, mumbling to himself: “why did I ask!?” After the 2 officers leave, Timothy arrives & tells Steve he wants to help find Michelle. Even more agitated, Steve yells at Timothy, telling him it would’ve been a lot easier to have received his cooperation long before now.
Amy tells the TV workers she does not know who will own the TV station, but she will consider taking it over. 1 of the reporters jokingly tells her, since Amy got Matthew’s Plymouth Prowler, she (Amy) has more than enough qualifications to own the TV station. Amy is not amused by the remark.
Michelle asks Troc to take her home. Troc tells Michelle he cannot do that quite yet & announces he has an errand to run. Michelle begs him to take her with, but Troc says he must go alone. He leaves & Michelle immediately picks up the phone to call Matthew at the TV station. When she asks for him, the receptionist (a temp for that day who doesn’t know Michelle from Eve) tells Michelle she (Michelle) must have some sick sense of humor & hangs up on Michelle. Stunned, Michelle then tries to call Michael & Cathy, but nobody answers. She finds this strange but is too “out of it” to connect these instances with the 2 hearses she saw earlier. Troc then returns.
Erika opens the door & is shocked to find Julia standing there. At 1st, she tells Julia to get lost & starts to slam the door shut, but Julia slams herself against the door. Julia tells Erika she wants to call a truce….
