People begin to file into the church for the joint memorial service. Desmond, Virginia, Carl, Amy, Richie, Cathy, Erika & Timothy are all speaking with people as they enter Hope COB. Christine enters & opts to stand next to Carl, for which he is grateful. Steve & Julia walk in next, both offering condolences. Steve takes the opportunity to let both families know the police are still searching for the boys & Michelle. He also “hints” the MPD will conduct a short inquiry into the fatal car collision to be sure no foul play was involved. Steve also informs the families an unmatched set of fingerprints have been taken from the restaurant; MPD will check to whom they belong. Tammy then enters & takes the opportunity to speak with Erika & Timothy, offering condolences for both Michael’s death & the missing boys & Michelle. Everyone is then seated, with the families processing to the front 2 pews. Hope COB is packed with many townspeople attending. Noticeably not in attendance: Donnie (missing), Jackie (hospital), Alicia (jail), Adam & Barry (missing), Michelle (missing), Jake (unknown), Wendleton-Vicky (driving to Manchester), Troc (following Michelle), Mack (hospital), Olivia (coma).
En route to Manchester following a night’s sleep near the prison, Wendleton & Vicky discuss a variety of topics. Wendleton tells Vicky they have a lot of work ahead of them. Vicky tells Wendleton she will not go to prison again because she flatly refuses to do anything illegal. Knowing what he has in mind, Wendleton somewhat protests, telling Vicky the university bombing was just the beginning.
Having been out all night, Michelle finally gets the courage to go to Hope COB to visit with Cathy. She arrives to find a number of vehicles in the parking lot, including 2 hearses. She stalls, wondering who on earth could have died. In that instant, Troc (who’d been following Michelle) comes along, engaging her in conversation. Troc asks Michelle if she has been home; she says no (which Troc already knows because he has been following her all night). Michelle, creeped by seeing the hearses & having Troc come up to her so unexpectedly, begins to tremble. Troc reaches out, embracing her to help calm her down. This, however, seems only to make Michelle more nervous. When Troc asks her why she grew even more tense, Michelle tells him it was because she is a “married” woman. Troc is not particularly surprised at this news; if he is, he does not show it. Troc offers to take Michelle somewhere; she readily accepts his offer.
Bailey hangs up the phone, turns to Camille & tells her Becca will be transferred to a hospital in Manchester AZ. Camille appreciates this, but then expresses concern about having to have Becca transferred back when they are done there. Bailey tells her not to worry; by then, the daughters will take care of Becca anyway. Then, concerned over their length of time in Manchester, Camille asks Bailey how long he thinks they will be there. Bailey tells Camille they will be there as long as needed, no matter how long.
In a brand new pickup truck, Jake leaves town.
