I realized yesterday (Friday, 03/24/2017) morning that, per my original itinerary, it was to be my last full day on the road for my 1st major 2017 road trip, driving from Wichita KS to the St Louis MO area. So, overnight, Friday-Saturday, I found myself looking at pics I took September 2009 & mid-2011 in areas I would’ve been the last couple weeks. When I stumbled upon the below pic (1 of many I took in the early morning hours of 09/13/2009 at the Wigwam in Holbrook AZ, during my Route 66 journey), I was somewhat stunned to see the late model Mercury Grand Marquis (similar to my current 2003 MGM LS) parked with the vintage vehicles. I’d forgotten the MGM was there that morning, but when I looked at the photo, I remembered the older couple with it … & how young they acted when they were loading their car to leave that morning. This photo is a stark reminder of similar pics I’d planned to take along my road trips this year … featuring my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis LS at places I stopped:

Today (Saturday, 03/25/2017), I’d planned to finish my road trip by driving from the St Louis MO area to Rochelle IL, arriving there ~2p for a cousin’s 90th birthday party. I will still attend that gathering, just not via my preferred route.

BTW, the 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis LS is for sale (asking $3,000), along with the 1979 Caprice Classic sedan (asking $1,500). You can see both (along with links to additional entries with more photos) in the recently-updated “Vehicles, CHDs & Me” page via THIS LINK HERE. Speaking of updates, I’ve also revised the “Articles & Videos” page (seen via THIS LINK HERE) & the “Photo Galleries” landing page (seen via THIS LINK HERE). [The above photo is 1 of MANY pictures I’ve taken I plan to get back online here, since my picasa pages are no more.]
