Have you seen this movie!?
What catches your spying-eye radar!?

Would you believe I’ve never seen this movie!? ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ is a teen comedy that debuted on the big screen 06/11/1986. Written, co-produced & directed by John Hughes (a Chicago White Sox fan), the film is set in Chicago & was filmed in 3 months at various locations around the area: Chicago River, Sears Tower, Art Institute Of Chicago, Wrigley Field, Northbrook, Glenbrook N HS, Highland Park, River Forest, Oak Park, Glenco, Winnetka & Lake Forest. Filming was completed in Long Beach CA.
Hughes wanted the baseball scenes at Comiskey Park, but time constraints forced the location to move to Wrigley Field at the last minute. 2 interwoven & consecutive scenes were filmed at Wrigley
on different days & during different games. Based on Harry Caray’s play-by-play heard in the background (along with uniforms, player numbers, etc.), the 1st game filmed was 06/05/1985 between the Atlanta Braves & Chicago Cubs; the 2nd game was the 09/24/1985 contest between the then-Montreal Expos & Chicago Cubs. During that 1985 season, the Braves & Expos wore similar powder blue road uniforms, so with some magical editing from Hughes, the 2 consecutive scenes appeared to be from the same game!
The feature car, a 1961 Ferrari GT California, was replicated by Mark Goyette, who designed kits for 3 reproductions used in the film. While the interior shots were of the real car, the exterior shots were of the replicas (universally hated by the crew because they “didn’t work right”, sometimes not even starting). In the movie, the Ferrari’s vanity plate spells NRVOUS, while other plates seen in the film honor Hughes’ earlier works: VCTN (‘National Lampoon’s Vacation’), TBC (‘The Breakfast Club’) & MMOM (‘Mr. Mom’).
Hughes wrote the script in less than a week, starting 02/25/1985 & finishing 03/03/1985. Cast: Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, Mia Sara, Jennifer Grey, Jeffrey Jones, Lyman Ward, Cindy Pickett, Edie McClurg, Ben Stein, Del Close, Virginia Capers, Charlie Sheen, Richard Edson, Larry “Flash” Jenkins, Kristy Swanson, Jonathan Schmock, Stephanie Blake, Dee Dee Rescher, Max Perlich & Scott Coffey.
