Do you remember this series!?
What catches your spying-eye radar!?

“Mannix” is a Los Angeles CA-based detective show, originally airing 09/16/1967 to 04/13/1975 on CBS. Created by Richard Levinson & William Link, the series was developed by Bruce Geller, & originally produced by Desilu Productions (with Lucille Ball as head of the company). Paramount Television took over production in 1968 when Gulf + Western integrated Desilu’s operations into Paramount Pictures.
Numerous vehicles were involved in this series, especially for the title character. In Season 1, Mannix drove a 1966 Mercury Comet Caliente convertible, a 1967 Mercury Comet Cyclone convertible, a 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 4-door hardtop, a 1967 Ford Fairlane 500 4-door sedan & a 1967 Oldsmobile Toronado (customized by George Barris). In Season 2, he drove a 1968 Dodge Dart GTS 340 convertible (customized by George Barris). In the remaining seasons, he drove a 1969 Dodge Dart GTS 340 convertible (customized by George Barris; Season 3), a 1970 Plymouth Cuda 340 dark green convertible (Season 4), a 1971 Plymouth Cuda convertible (Season 5), a 1973 Plymouth Cuda (Season 6), a 1974 Dodge Challenger 360 coupe (Season 7) & a Camaro LT (Season 8). Other less prominent cars were driven by Peggy Fair: Simca 1000, Simca 1204 hatchback, Dodge Colt hardtop & a Vega hatchback.
Mike Connors (who just died last Thursday, 01/26/2017) was tapped for the title role by Gary Morton, who was Ball’s husband at the time. Morton noticed Connors’ 1937 Bentley, struck up a car enthusiast to car enthusiast conversation with Connors & immediately thought of Connors for the upcoming detective series. Peggy Fair was portrayed by Gail Fisher, while Lew Wickersham was portrayed by Joseph Campanella. Connors guest-starred on 2 shows as Mannix: 1971’s ‘Lucy & Mannix Are Held Hostage’ episode of “Here’s Lucy” & 1997’s ‘Hard-Boiled Murder’ episode of “Diagnosis: Murder” (series previously featured via THIS LINK HERE), which served as a sequel to the “Mannix” episode ‘Little Girl Lost’.
