The ~1913 pic originally set to run in this theme today is delayed until next Thursday. Meantime, I had to catch my breath the other day when I realized we are soon coming up on the year anniversary of the death of great friend, awesome Route 66 “roadie” & OC,SHer LAUREL K. Then, during my Facebook time late last night, I discovered Route 66 artist, Willem Bor, just died after a battle with cancer. I’d followed his Route 66 Art Facebook page for quite some time & was always awed by his work, creating scale models of Route 66 places. The collage you see below is a collection of photos previously featured on the Old Cars, Strong Hearts Facebook page, pre-website days in the now-former “Scale Saturday” theme, clockwise from top left: Lucille’s (Hydro OK), Standard Oil Station (Odell IL), Gay Parita Sinclair (Paris Springs MO) & Twin Arrows Trading Post (Winona AZ). Sure wish I could buy 1 of his models. RIP, Willem.
