CD SHOWCASE MEMORIES
Welcome to this new theme! It effectively combines “Saturday Smorgasbord” & the most-recent version of “CarTunes Saturday”. As the rollout continues, you will see that each weekly theme has a sibling; this theme’s sibling is “Turntable Tuesday”. Meantime, this theme will feature photos of sports, buildings, road trips, etc., along with a few songs I played during my college radio shows.
This inaugural edition features 2 songs from the 1st portion (7p+) of my 02/10/1996 college radio show, which was shortened by the coverage of a college basketball game: T Graham Brown’s “Brilliant Conversationalist” & Dolly Parton’s “Think About Love”. Also featured: Chicago River boats & buildings

“Brilliant Conversationalist”
T Graham Brown
This song debuted 05/30/1987, spent 20 weeks on the country charts & peaked at #9. At the time, it was his 5th straight Top 10 tune, in a streak that stretched to 9 straight Top 10s, with only 3 of those not cracking the Top 5, while 3 of the Top 5 hits claimed #1. In my opinion, this tune is a “brilliant” play on words & description of how body language can talk just as much as spoken or written words. You can read more about Brown, his career & other familiar favorites of his via THIS LINK HERE, where I featured 1 of my favorite songs of his in an 07/31/2015 entry.
#2
“Think About Love”
Dolly Parton
This is 1 of those songs I love … & hate. I love it because it speaks about the struggles of letting people know how you feel & the frustration they don’t feel the same; I hate it because many times I’ve wanted someone to “think about love” with me … but no such luck. This tune 1st hit the airwaves 11/30/1985, spent 22 weeks on the country charts & claimed #1. At the time, it was the 3rd of 3 straight Top 5 tunes, preceded by 1985’s “Don’t Call It Love” (#3) & 1985’s “Real Love” (#1; duet with Kenny Rogers). You can read more about Parton, her career & other familiar favorites of hers via THIS LINK HERE, where I featured 1 of my favorite songs of hers in an 11/26/2016 entry.
