Ending today by listening to 2 same name songs, Lonestar’s “What About Now” & Daughtry’s “What About Now”, while checking out the interior of a 2-tone Chevrolet pickup, photographed by OC,SHer JAY B at Top Notch Hamburgers’ Hot Rod Night in Austin TX, 08/06/2016….

“What About Now”
Lonestar
This song (my favorite of this group) debuted 04/15/2000 & spent 36 weeks on the country charts, 4 of those at #1; it crossed over & reached #30 on the Billboard Hot 100. Back on the country charts, it was their 3rd straight chart topper, behind 1999’s “Amazed” (8 weeks) & 1999-2000’s “Smile”. That streak stretched to 4 straight with 2000-1’s “Tell Her” (2 weeks). This Nashville-TN based band includes Richie McDonald, John Rich (later part of Big & Rich), Michael Britt, Dean Sams & Keech Rainwater. Their 1st release, 1996’s “No News”, claimed #1 for 3 straight weeks, but did not lead to immediate sustained success. Instead, only 2 of their next 5 releases reached the Top 15. Then, from mid 1997 to early 1999, they released 7 tunes, only 2 of which cracked the Top 10, both landing in the Top 5: 1997’s “Come Cryin’ To Me” (#1, 2 weeks) & 1998’s “Everything’s Changed” (#2, another top favorite of mine). Then, the 4 straight chart toppers gained them sustained success, followed by such familiar favorites as 2001’s “I’m Already There” (#1, 6 weeks), 2002’s “Not A Day Goes By” (#3, 4 weeks), 2003’s “My Front Porch Looking In” (#1) & 2004’s “Mr Mom” (#1, 2 weeks).

“What About Now”
Daughtry
8 years later after Lonestar’s tune, this single hit the airwaves 07/01/2008 as the 7th single from this band’s self-titled debut album. Written by Ben Moody, David Hodges & Josh Hartzler [Moody & Hodges former Evanescence members, with Hartzler being married to Amy Lee, Evanescence’s lead singer], this song was 1 of only 2 songs on this band’s album not at least co-written by lead singer Chris Daughtry. Between 2008 & 2009, this tune peaked at #3 on the both the Adult Contemporary & Adult Top 40 charts. Amazingly, it only reached #18 on the Billboard Hot 100 & #19 on the Mainstream Top 40. Internationally, it only had Top 20 success in Canada (#17) & the United Kingdom (#11). Other familiar favorites of this band include 2006’s “It’s Not Over”, 2006’s “Home”, 2007’s “Over You”, 2009’s “No Surprise” & 2010’s “September”.
