What catches your spying-eye radar!?

‘Le Mans’ entered theaters 06/23/1971 &, with a G rating, flopped at the box office.  However, unlike it’s 1966 predecessor, ‘Grand Prix’ (featured HERE last week), this movie remains popular today, complete with a cult following.  Actual footage from the mid-June 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans race is used, thanks in part to Herbert Linge & Jonathan Williams driving a Porsche 908/2 (with heavy movie cameras) for 282 laps in the race.  Steve McQueen & Jackie Stewart planned to actually race a Porsche 917, but their entry was not accepted.  The cast includes McQueen, Siegfried Rauch, Elga Andersen, Ronald Leigh-Hunt, Fred Haltiner, Luc Merenda, Christopher Waite, Louise Edlind, Angelo Infanti, Jean-Claude Bercq, Michele Scalera, Gino Cassani, Alfred Bell & Carlo Cecchi.
