“Ripley’s Believe It Or Not” developed from a newspaper feature & had 3 incarnations.  The 1st was rather short-lived, spanning 03/01/1949 to 10/05/1950; it was originally hosted by Robert L Ripely himself, but he died of a heart attack shortly after the 13th episode & friends substituted as host for the remainder of the run.  Another TV pilot was developed in 1956, but didn’t go anywhere.  Then, 1982-6, ABC carried a new version of the show with Jack Palance as host; he was joined by 3 different co-hosts: Holly Palance (his daughter), Catherine Shirriff & Marie Osmond.  Then, late 1999 to 2003, the 3rd rendition aired on TBS with Dean Cain & Kelly Packard as hosts.
