Rita Hayworth with her 1941 Lincoln Continental:

Hayworth, an actress & dancer, obtained fame during the 1940s, appearing in 61 films over a span of 37 years. Her career took off when she became the top pin-up girl for GIs during WWII; accordingly, the press described her as “love goddess”. While her greatest success arguably was in 1944’s ‘Cover Girl’ musical (with Gene Kelly), perhaps her best-known performance was in 1946’s film noir ‘Gilda’ (with Glenn Ford). A native of Brooklyn NY, she eventually followed her parents’ dreams for her (father wanted her to be a dancer; mother wanted her to be an actress). The antithesis of many of the characters she portrayed, Hayworth was naturally shy. She married & divorced 5 times, including to Orson Welles. She died from Alzheimer’s disease complications, 05/14/1987.
