“Simple Man”
Lynyrd Skynyrd
While this band is best-known for the ever-popular “Sweet Home Alabama” (previously featured HERE), this song of theirs is 1 of the most popular un-charted songs … ever … originally recorded 04/30/1973 & released later that year as part of the band’s debut album. Since this track became available for digital download 04/15/2008, it has sold over 1,333,000 copies, catapulting it to become this band’s 3rd best-selling digital single, after the aforementioned “SHA” & “Free Bird”. This song’s popularity was enhanced by use in TV (“Mountain Men”, “Supernatural”, & “My Name Is Earl”) & covers by various artists.

#2
“Simple Man”
Charle Daniels Band
16 years after LS’ song was released, this single debuted 10/14/1989, spent 26 weeks on the country charts & peaked at #12 in early 1990. This proved to be this group’s last Top 15 tune, after mega success with songs like 1979’s “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” (#1 country; #3 Billboard Hot 100; CMA Single Of The Year; Country Vocal Group Grammy) & 1980’s “In America” (#13 country, #11 BH 100), along with an appearance in the movie ‘Urban Cowboy’.
