#1 âCanât Fight This Feelingâ | REO Speedwagon
My 2nd favorite of this band, behind âTime For Me To Flyâ (previously featured HERE), this power ballad hit the airwaves 01/23/1985 from their album âWheels Are Turninââ & claimed #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 3 straight weeks 2 months later, 03/09-23/1985; it was this bandâs 2nd BH 100 chart topper, behind 1981âs âKeep On Loving Youâ. This tune also reached #3 on the Adult Contemporary & #5 on the Top Rock Tracks charts. Internationally, it reached the Top 10 on several other charts, including #2 in Australia, #5 in Ireland & #8 in S Africa.
#2 âIs There Life Out Thereâ | Reba McEntire
I love the message within this song; Iâve often asked the same question, albeit more in reference to road trips! Thatâs why Iâm featuring it here, even though Iâve showcased McEntire many times before, including this 07/01/2015 entry HEREÂ & 2 more features earlier this year: 06/25/2016 HERE & 07/20/2016 HERE. This song debuted 01/25/1992 & spent 20 weeks on the charts, 2 of those at #1. It was preceded by 1991âs âFor My Broken Heartâ (#1, 2 weeks; dedicated to her tour manager & 7 members of her band, killed in a plane crash, 03/16/1991) & followed by 1992âs âThe Night The Lights Went Out In GAâ (#12) & 1992âs âThe Greatest Man I Never Knewâ (#3). This songâs video (below) is noted as being 1 of the 1st in country music to include significant dialogue to illustrate the musicâs storyline. Portions of the video were filmed at Nashville TNâs Belmont University. While CMT complained the video put âmessage ahead of musicâ, the video won the 1992 Academy Of Country Music Video Of The Year award. 2 years later, Reba starred in a 10/09/1994 CBS-TV movie (same name) based on the songâs storyline.
Nice Corvair! I like the front end. Can’t fight this feeling reminds me of playing in the back yard as a kid.
Indeed … I really like the color on this Corvair, Ben! &, cool, glad the REO song brought back some memories for you!
