What catches your spying-eye radar!?

“JAG” (US military acronym for Judge Advocate General) is a legal drama, created by Donald P Bellisario, that spanned 10 seasons, 9 of those on CBS.  Originally thought of as ‘Top Gun’ meets ‘A Few Good Men’, the original network gave up on the show with 1 episode unaired in the 1st season.  After CBS picked it up, the series climbed in the ratings & eventually spawned “NCIS”, which in turn spun off “NCIS: Los Angeles” & “NCIS: New Orleans”.  “JAG” utilized real United States Navy ships, filming on such vessels as the USS Forrestal, USS Saratoga, USS Enterprise, USS John F Kennedy & USS Dwight D Eisenhower … most representing 1 of the show’s fictional ships: USS Reprisal, USS Seahawk, etc.  However, 6 ships were called by their real names: USS Hornet, USS Coral Sea, USS Kitty Hawk, USS America, USS Theodore Roosevelt & USS Belknap.  While this series sparked “NCIS”, it also had a cross over with another short-lived Bellisario series, “1st Monday” (which starred James Garner & Joe Mantegna); the  US Senator Edward Sheffield character (portrayed by Dean Stockwell) appeared in 3 episodes of “1st Monday”, then became a recurring character on “JAG” as the new Secretary Of The Navy.  The series main cast includes David James Elliott, Catherine Bell, Tracey Needham, Patrick Labyorteaux, John M Jackson, Scott Lawrence & Zoe McLellan.  Other recurring characters were portrayed by Andrea Parker, Trevor Goddard, Karri Turner, Nanci Chambers, Randy Vasquez, Chuck Carrington, Terry O’Quinn, Steven Culp, Andrea Thompson, Chris Beetem, Meta Golding, Jordana Spiro & David Andrews.
