Route 66-based story (by OC,SH’s founder, inspired by his 09/2009 Route 66 road trip)

CHAPTER 71: A RESTLESSNESS

A few hours later, after a hearty dinner at the Ariston Cafe, the brothers found themselves in their hotel room in Litchfield IL.

The eldest secretly wondered if they’d stopped to soon, but realized an early start the next morning was imperative, given what they had in mind for the next day. They’d had a great time exploring different Route 66 paths between Springfield IL & Litchfield IL.

While his younger brother took a shower, the eldest started going through photos from the day, but quickly grew restless. He looked around the room, as if the room would have an answer for why he was a bit on edge. But, he wasn’t on edge, per se … just … well, he wasn’t sure. So, he closed his laptop, scribbled a quick note to his brother, & went for a brief walk in the gorgeous evening air. By the time the eldest returned to the room an hour or so later, the youngest was already sound asleep. The eldest took a shower, finished prepping the day’s photos & went to bed.
