In the United States, today is National Chicken Boy Day (Route 66) & National No Rhyme Nor Reason Day! How will you celebrate?
Thursday’s Leadoff Drive:
Jean Harlow with her Cadillac.
Harlow, often nicknamed the “Blond Bombshell” & “Platinum Blond”, was a sex symbol of the 1930s, surpassing the popularity of her colleagues, including Joan Crawford (featured HERE). Harlow’s career was cut short when she died in 1937 during the filming of ‘Saratoga’. Released a little after her death, that movie was completed using body doubles. While she’d appeared in 10 movies between 1928 & 1929, her 1st credited role was as Helen in 1930’s ‘Hell’s Angels’. From there until her death, she had credited rolls in 21 films, including as Carol Clayton in ‘Saratoga’.
