In the United States, today is National Coloring Book Day & National Ice Cream Sandwich Day! How will you celebrate?
Tuesday’s Leadoff Drive:
An OC,SH original from the coloring book Nephew & Niece gave me last Christmas & has been featured HERE & HERE & HERE previously. This is the latest entry we have started; perfect for National Coloring Book Day, right!?
1950 Mercury 2-door Sedan
“By 1950 the American public was clamoring for new automobiles that echoed the technology developed during World War II, leading to the era of ‘Jet Age’ styling. Shown is 1 of the earliest examples of this design approach, a 1950 Mercury, featuring front & rear fenders that are an integral part of the body unit (by contrast, fenders were separately attached elements in prewar designs). The sleek 2-door version smoothly blended front-to-rear styling to invoke feelings of power & speed. The large, heavy chrome steel bumper & full-width horizontal grill with tubular chrome ‘teeth’ add to the long, low appearance. At the rear, fender skirts contributed to a smooth look, while full chrome wheel covers accented the extravagantly wide whitewall tires.”
