‘My Cousin Vinny’ is a comedy that debuted in theaters 03/13/1992 to good reviews & faired better at the box office than anticipated. Written by Dale Launer & directed by Jonathan Lynn, the film’s conclusion hinges on how a 1963 Pontiac Tempest could be mistaken for a 1964 Buick Skylark (& vice versa). The courthouse scenes, while in fictional Beechum County AL, were filmed on a set based on the town square of Monticello GA in Jasper County. The cast includes Joe Pesci, Marisa Tomei, Ralph Macchio, Mitchell Whitfield, Fred Gwynne (his last movie appearance before he died 07/02/1993), Lane Smith, Bruce McGill, Austin Pendleton, Chris Ellis, James Rebhorn, Maury Chaykin, Paulene Myers, Raynor Scheine, Michael Simpson, Lou Walker & Kenny Jones.
