#1 “Listen To Your Heart” | Roxette
Originally released September 1988 only in the band’s native Sweden as the 4th single from their 2nd studio album ‘Look Sharp!’, this song was re-released in August 1990, following the success of “It Must Have Been Love” (featured in the movie ‘Pretty Woman’). Between 1988 & 1990, this song claimed #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (preventing New Kids On The Block’s “Cover Girl” from reaching #1) & #2 on the Adult Contemporary charts. Internationally, it claimed #1 in Canada, while notching at #2 in Austria, #3 in Sweden, #5 in Ireland, #6 in England, #7 in Germany, #8 in Switzerland & #10 in Australia. Later familiar favorites include 1989-1990’s “Dangerous”, 1991’s “Joyride”, 1991’s “Fading Like A Flower” & 1991’s “Spending My Time”.

#2 “Things Will Never Be The Same” | Roxette
While not released to radio, this song has been relevant in my life many times & has become 1 of my favorites of this band, along with those mentioned above. My 1st vivid memory of this tune is from September 1994. At college, Thursday, 09/08/1994, I chose to leave the TV off so I could work ahead on some projects. Around 10p, my parents called to see if I’d heard the news about the crash of USAir Flight 427 in Pittsburgh PA. I hadn’t. They then told me a family friend was on the plane & had been killed. The next evening, as I was preparing for my Saturday radio show, I came across this song on the CD I have of this band’s album ‘Joyride’ & marked it to play Saturday evening … & I dedicated it to those on that flight.
