“Ellen” originally aired on ABC, 03/29/1994 to 07/22/1998. In its 1st season, it was titled “These Friends Of Mine”, but was quickly changed to simply “Ellen” to avoid confusion with “Friends”. In its 5th season, a 1997 episode made television history, becoming 1 of the 1st series with a main character coming out as gay. While the initial response was overwhelming, this change in tone ultimately led to the show’s demise. During its run, this show had 1 crossover episode, a 4-parter set in Las Vegas NV with “Grace Under Fire” (featured HERE), “Coach” & “The Drew Carey Show”. This show’s main cast includes Ellen DeGeneres (title role), Joely Fisher, Holly Fulger, Arye Gross, David Anthony Higgins, Clea Lewis, Jeremy Piven & Maggie Wheeler; recurring cast members are Steven Gilborn, Alice Hirson, Lisa Darr, Bruce Campbell, Patrick Bristow & Jack Plotnick.
