In the United States, today is National Fried Chicken Day! Will you celebrate by having some for lunch or dinner?
Wednesday’s Leadoff Drive: Day 13.
“Coast-to-Coast” Road Trip, 07/06/2011.
5 years ago this very date & day, I traveled from Lebanon OR to Seattle WA. I left ~8a headed to Eugene OR so I could drive the farthest western stretch of US Route 20, which runs through my hometown of Elgin IL; I had driven the eastern part of US Route 20 during my 2010 road trip. I arrived in Newport OR ~10a & once again drove a portion of US 101. I headed back east along US Route 20 ~10:15a, then taking State Route 34 E to I-5 N, getting back to the interstate ~11:30a. ~2 hours later, I stopped in Portland OR to meet several friends; these are the cars that also attended that gathering:
All of us (Rick, Willie, Dustin & myself) met where Dustin works; we went to a local restaurant to get something to drink & chat. I left ~3:20p & arrived in Kent WA to see a friend ~6:45p. I left there ~7:55p, arriving at the home of another friend for an overnight stay ~8:45p; that friend had a cookout & it was delicious!
