Tuesday’s Leadoff Drive: Day 12.
“Coast-to-Coast” Road Trip, 07/05/2011.
5 years ago this very date & day, I traveled from Williams CA to Lebanon OR. I left Williams ~8:15a & drove I-5 N. I arrived in Yreka CA ~3 hours later, stopping to meet OC,SHer DUANE O, who was working; the visit lasted 15 minutes, but that was better than nothing! I continued north & stopped in Medford OR ~1 hour later to meet & eat lunch with OC,SHer ANGELA R-L; I previously featured a photo from that visit HERE. After nearly 1.5 hours, I left Medford ~1:40p & continued north, noticing a sign for Coos Bay OR (a town mentioned in Ray Stevens’ “The Haircut Song”). I took SR 138W to the coast, where I traveled portions of US 101 & stopped to see this famed Bliss Diner:

I arrived ~5:15p, but since friends who’d planned to meet did not show & I wasn’t hungry, I spent a half hour taking pics & left ~5:45p, heading east along SR 126 E to an originally unplanned overnight stay with a cousin & her friend in Lebanon OR. While I hadn’t decided where to stay that night, a phone conversation with my cousin revealed that she was staying with a friend in Lebanon &, at her request, I stayed there, too. I arrived ~7:45p &, while eating dinner, we watched the movie ‘Gran Torino’ (1st time I saw it).
