Monday’s Leadoff Drive: Day 11.
“Coast-to-Coast” Road Trip, 07/04/2011.
5 years ago this very date & day, I traveled from Taylorsville UT to Williams CA. With the advice of several people, my original plan was to be up & on the road VERY early (~4a local time at least) to drive through Salt Lake City to see the sunrise. However, given the good conversations Sunday evening, I realized quickly being on the road early in the morning wasn’t going to happen. So, I slept in, leaving Ray’s place ~7:45a local time. I was glad I chose to sleep; I traveled around the Great Salt Lake under a cloud cover & would not have been able to see the sunrise. It wasn’t until I got into Nevada that the clouds started to break. This is the 4th pic I took after the sun 1st started to break through, along I-80 W in NV:

I arrived in Elko NV ~10:10a to meet with friend & OC,SHer ROBERT P (who gave me a 132-song CD, which I still have) for a half hour. I continued west, stopping briefly in Sparks NV ~2:30p, then heading into CA & stopping at 2 vistas. I hadn’t planned to spend July 4th evening alone, but dinner with relatives didn’t materialize as planned, so once I arrived in Sacramento, I continued north along I-5, stopping at Williams CA ~6:10p.
