Sunday’s Leadoff Drive: Day 10.
“Coast-to-Coast” Road Trip, 07/03/2011.
5 years ago this very date & day, I traveled from Johnson’s Corners CO to Taylorsville UT. Before leaving JC ~9a, I ate breakfast with Jay & Carol; I’d known Jay for a few years through a racing message forum of which I’m a member. Sadly, Jay died a few months ago. I had originally planned to travel the same route I did October 2004: I-25 N to I-80 W through Wyoming. However, under advisement from several people, I headed south on I-25, then west on I-76 to I-70. I was thoroughly glad I did, considering the scenery I saw along the way, including this photo, 1 of many I took this day:

Right around noon, I got off the interstate had headed northwest on US Route 6, which winds its way across the country, including a section in Illinois; I have also driven US Route 6 in Ohio & Pennsylvania during my 2010 road trip. At the interchange with I-15, I took the interstate north to Taylorsville UT where I met & stayed with friend & OC,SHer RAY B; I arrived at his place ~5:45p. We then met other friends for dinner. This visit was the last time I saw him alive: he died 02/28/2014 (memory HERE).
