#1 “Black Coffee” | Lacy J Dalton
If you saw the OC,SH Live Video broadcast 06/22/2016 (linked via Articles & Videos HERE), you heard this song! This single, her last release, hit the airwaves 03/31/1990, spent 22 weeks on the country charts & peaked at #15. Perhaps underrated, this Bloomsburg PA-native singer-songwriter-guitarist released 24 songs between October 1979 & March 1990, 7 of which reached the Top 10, including 1981’s “Takin’ It Easy” (#2, 2 weeks), 1982’s “16th Avenue” (#7) & 1983’s “Dream Baby” (#9).

#2 “Only The Wind” | Billy Dean
Previously featured this artist last year HERE, but when I saw this song on the list for my 10/21/1995 college radio show, I wanted to showcase it. Like Dalton, Dean is perhaps an underrated artist, with this song classically exemplifying that. This single debuted 01/04/1992, spent 20 weeks on the charts & peaked at #4. The message within it should’ve easily made it a chart topper. As it is, this tune was his 4th straight Top 5 to start his career, an amazing accomplishment. Other familiar favorites include his 1st 2 releases, 1990-1’s “Only Here For A Little While” (#3) & 1991’s “Somewhere In My Broken Heart” (#3, 2 weeks). Later Top 10 hits include 1992-3’s “Tryin’ To Hide A Fire In The Dark” (#6, a song I used for a segue for my college radio show), 1996’s “That Girl’s Been Spying On Me” (#4) & 2004-5’s “Let Them Be Little” (#8).

#3 “Are You Ever Going To Love Me” | Holly Dunn
Similar to Dalton & Dean, Dunn is an underrated artist as well. Previously featured HERE in a duet with Michael Martin Murphy, Dunn’s career spanned mid 1985 to mid 1995 & included 21 releases, 9 of those Top 10 tunes. This song debuted 05/27/1989, spent 23 weeks on the charts & claimed #1, her 1st of 2 chart toppers. Her 2nd chart topper turned out to be her last Top 15: 1990’s “You Really Had Me Going”. This San Antonio TX-native singer-songwriter-guitarist had worked as a DJ in Detroit MI (WWWW).
