#1 “Over You” | Lady Brody
This song debuted 05/21/1983, spent 19 weeks on the charts & peaked at #15. It was featured in the movie ‘Tender Mercies’, starring Robert Duvall. This Oak Park IL-native singer-actress had 4 prior releases, none of which cracked the Top 50. Of 7 additional releases between November 1983 & April 1986, only 1 other reached the Top 25: the chart-topping duet with Johnny Lee, 1984’s “The Yellow Rose”, part of the TV series starring Cybill Shepherd. The Lee-Brody #1 duet was the same melody as “The Yellow Rose Of Texas”, but with new lyrics.

#2 “Over You” | Daughtry
24 years after Brody’s song debuted, this single hit the airwaves 07/24/2007 as the 3rd mainstream single (4th overall) from this artist’s self-titled debut album. Written by Chris Daughtry & Brian Howes, this song peaked in 2007 at #18 on the Billboard Hot 100, #16 on the Adult Contemporary, #4 on the Mainstream Top 40 & #3 on the Adult Top 40 charts. Elsewhere, it reached #16 in Canada, #22 in Sweden, #26 in New Zealand & #31 in Austria.

#3 “Over You” | Miranda Lambert
~4.5 years after Daughtry’s hit & 28.5 years after Brody’s tune, this song reached the charts 01/07/2012. It spent 23 weeks on the country charts & claimed #1, also garnering CMA Song Of The Year honors; it crossed over & reached #35 on the Billboard Hot 100. This Longview TX-native singer-songwriter-guitarist had placed 3rd in the 1st season (2003) of TV’s “Nashville Star”. This single was her 3rd chart topper behind 2010’s “The House That Built Me” (4 weeks; CMA Song Of The Year & Country Female Vocal Grammy) & 2011’s “Heart Like Mine”.
