2 songs from the 1st hour (7p-8p) of my 10/14/1995 college radio show: Juice Newton’s “Angel Of The Morning” & Debbie Gibson’s “Foolish Beat”. Also featured: Junkyard Jewel 1986 Caprice Classic sedan, photographed by OC,SHer ERIC L in Texas; the front end gives it away as a 1986 model because that was the only year between 1977 & 1990 the Caprice’s front emblem was not a stand-up version….

#1 “Angel Of The Morning” | Juice Newton
This song debuted 03/07/1981, spent 11 weeks on the country charts & peaked at #22; it notched at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Born Judith Kay Cohen in Lakehurst NJ, this singer-guitarist is an excellent crossover artist, though she had more success on the country charts. Her next release, 1981’s “Queen Of Hearts” reached #14 on the country charts & #2 (2 weeks) on the Billboard Hot 100. That was followed by 1981-2’s “The Sweetest Thing”, which claimed #1 on the country charts & reached #7 on the BH 100. Of 16 more songs released to country radio, she notched 8 Top 10s, including 1982’s “Break It To Me Gently” (#2, 2 weeks; Country Female Vocal Grammy), 1985’s “You Make Me Want To Make You Mine” (#1), 1985-6’s “Hurt” (#1), 1986’s “Old Flame” (#5, a favorite of mine), 1986’s “Both To Each Other” (#1; duet with Eddie Rabbitt).

#2 “Foolish Beat” | Debbie Gibson
Released 02/11/1988, this song is Gibson’s 4th single & 1st ballad. She became the youngest person to write, produce & sing a #1 single entirely on her own when this tune topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart that summer. She recorded the song the winter of 1987 for the Dream Tour, then included it on her album ‘Out Of The Blue’. This song also reached #8 on the Adult Contemporary chart; elsewhere, it reached #5 in Ireland, #7 in Netherlands, #9 in England, #10 in Switzerland, #20 in Belgium, #29 in New Zealand & #36 in Spain.
