Ending today by listening to a pair of same name songs, Expose’s “Let Me Be The 1” & Blessid Union Of Souls’ “Let Me Be The 1”, while checking under the hood of a yellow Plymouth, photographed by OC,SHer MEL K at the 11/07/2015 Pumpkin Run….

#1 “Let Me Be The 1” | Expose
Written & produced by Lewis Martinee, this song was released 05/15/1987 from the group’s debut album ‘Exposure’ & became their 3rd consecutive Top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at #7. The tune also reached #2 on the Hot Dance Club Play & #13 on the Hot Dance Singles Sales charts. Their prior 2 Top 10s were 1987’s “Come Go With Me” (#5) & 1987’s “Point Of No Return” (#5). Their next release, 1987-8’s “Seasons Change” became their 1st (& only) BH 100 chart topper.

#2 “Let Me Be The 1” | Blessid Union Of Souls
8 years later, this song (my favorite of this group) became this band’s 2nd release. On the heals of their successful debut single (1995’s “I Believe”, #8 Billboard Hot 100, #5 Adult Contemporary, #2 Mainstream Top 40), the band had high hopes for this tune, debuting later that same year. However, it only managed to notch in early 1996 at #29 on the BH 100, #24 on the Adult Contemporary & #14 on the Mainstream Top 40 charts. The band’s only other Top 10 tune was 1999’s “Hey Leonardo” (#33 BH 100, #8 Mainstream Top 40).
