When I was little, my mother used to go to a tiny old fashioned market about a mile away. A great place with penny candy, shelves that seemed to go all the way to the ceiling, so the grocer had to use a special stick or ladder to reach some products. Great personal service. Mum had 5 boys in under 7 years, and was thrilled that Mr. Lamonnt(?) would deliver. I don’t remember the make of the truck, but I remember holding on to the driver’s door while standing on the running board and riding up the hill to the house. The truck looked like this one, with the wooden rails in the back. He had an awning over the back, and groceries were in bushel baskets. We had milk delivered too. both men gave me rides up that hill in their trucks, as well as the postman.
