#1 “Daydream Believer” | Anne Murray
This song hit the airwaves 01/05/1980 & spent 14 weeks on the country charts, 2 of those at its peak of #3; it crossed over & notched at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100. For the Canadian singer, this single (a cover of the Monkees’ 1967-8 4-week chart topper) was her 11th country Top 10 & broke a string of 3 straight #1s. After this release, she had 15 Top 10s & 6 #1 tunes. My favorites of hers came later in her career: 1983’s “A Little Good News” (#1) & 1985’s “Time Don’t Run Out On Me” (#2).

#2 “Sure Thing” | Foster & Lloyd
This duo of Radney Foster & Bill Lloyd only notched 4 Top 10s in their brief career, mid 1987 to late 1990. This song, their 2nd release, debuted 11/07/1987, spent 21 weeks on the charts & peaked at #8. Their 1st release, 1987’s “Crazy Over You”, reached #4. Their other Top 10 tunes are 1988’s “What Do You Want From Me This Time” (#6) & 1989’s “Fair Shake” (#5). My favorite of theirs, tho, wasn’t even a Top 10; it was their 3rd release, 1988’s “Texas In 1880” (#18). What I remember most about that song is that, when I visited family in PA summer 1988, this song & Restless Heart’s “Bluest Eyes In Texas” were always played back-to-back on CMT. & yes, I have all of their songs on vinyl record!
