Today’s ad is part of the brochure for the Lancia Montecarlo:
“In only its first full racing season, Lancia’s Racing Group 5 Montecarlo Turbo sports car won the 1979 Division 1 World Manufacturers Championship. & to celebrate, we’ve re-introduced the road going version of the Montecarlo upgrade to reflect this hard won racing pedigree. … Above all, a true sporting Lancia in the finest tradition of the marque.” Produced in Italy 1975-1981, this rear-wheel-drive car had 2 distinct series: Beta Montecarlos (1975-1978) & Lancia Montecarlos (1980-1981). In 1976 & 1977, the Lancia Montecarlo Spider was sold in the United States under the name Lancia Scorpion … due to the GM model of the same name (though that car is 2 words: Monte Carlo). Remember the movie ‘Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo’ (1977)? In that film, a Lancia Scorpion was Herbie’s girlfriend, Giselle! Also, who all has the Majorette model of this car!?
The Lancia was one of the best Rally Cars ever.
