Do you remember this series!? What catches your spying-eye radar!?
“TJ Hooker” premiered as a mid-season replacement series on ABC, 03/13/1982, & ran on that network until 05/04/1985. Another single season aired on CBS, late 1985 to early 1986. This series was created by Rick Husky (who later served as executive producer of “Walker, Texas Ranger”) & produced by Aaron Spelling & Leonard Goldberg. Originally conceived as a re-work of “The Rookies” (which Husky, Spelling & Goldberg had a hand in) entitled “The Protectors”, this series was revamped after the pilot aired to focus on 1 character & renamed accordingly. William Shatner portrayed “Sergeant Thomas Jefferson TJ Hooker”. Early on, this show gave a more hands-on, procedure-based view of police work than other shows of its day. After ABC canceled the show summer 1985, CBS quickly grabbed it up & produced 17 90-minute episodes & 1 2-hour TV movie. The 90-minute episodes ran as part of CBS’ “Crime Time After Prime-Time” showcase. Other cast members include Adrian Zmed, April Clough, Heather Locklear, Richard Herd & James Darren. Additional notable recurring & guest stars include Leonard Nimoy, Hugh Farrington, Nicole Eggert, Shawn Weatherly, Peter Brown, James Hong, Alex Rocco, Scott Marlowe, Jerry Lee Lewis & David Caruso.
