He uses a background pic to provide depth of scale, which is critical when shooting small, close-up items. The shot is printed on heavy stock paper, scaled to the car & placed directly behind it. “It’s something I came up with after some trial & error with background shots taken from old magazines,” Tom explained. “I’m always on the lookout for backgrounds & have some I haven’t used yet.”
