#1 “Mississippi Squirrel Revival” | Ray Stevens
This Clarksdale GA-native singer-songwriter-comedian has had several memorable tunes, including 1970’s “Everything Is Beautiful”, 1974’s “The Streak”, 1975’s “Misty” & 1985’s “The Haircut Song”. This single debuted 12/08/1984, spent 14 weeks on the country charts & peaked at #20 in early 1985. A multi-instrumentalist, Ray appeared many times on Andy Williams’ TV show in the late 1960s & hosted his own TV show in 1970.

#2 “I’ve Been Wrong Before” | Deborah Allen
This song hit the airwaves 01/28/1984 & spent 24 weeks on the country charts, 2 of those at its peak of #2. It was the follow-up to my favorite hit of hers, 1983’s “Baby I Lied” (#4 country; #26 Billboard Hot 100). This Memphis TN-native singer-songwriter was a regular on TV’s “The Jim Stafford Show” in 1975. Her brief career spanned mid 1979 to mid 1994 & produced 4 other country Top 10 tunes: 1984’s “I Hurt For You” (#10) & 3 duets with Jim Reeves (1979’s “Don’t Let Me Cross Over”, #10; 1979-80’s “Oh, How I Miss You Tonight”, #6; & 1980’s “Take Me In Your Arms & Hold Me”, #10).
